                    Damien Cownden - Woodburn 2007

Damian is in contention the Top Fuel bike class this year with  a bigger and better bike. Now on a 175 c.i. PRP bike, Damian qualified 2nd in Ashcroft with 7.619 @ 149.85, but lost first round and won the fuel shootout. In Medicine Hat, he qualified 3rd and finished 3rd.

In June, Damian and 7 other top fuel riders went out east to Grand Bend, Ont. There he qualified 6th with a  7.781 @ 130.94 but after going into the sand trap in the second round after a 6.66 @ 212 pass, he had electrical problem going into the third round and the bike stalled in the burnout box. He ended up 2nd. He also had fast time and MPH records!

Then it was back to the west coast for back to back Edmonton races. In CMDRA, Damian didn't qualify (9th with a 8.965 @ 151.97) but got in as an alternate after Ken Kent had motor issues. He lost first round to Lyle Newton, but broke the output shaft. So Damian and Rob raced back to Victoria to get the bike fixed and then it was back out for the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals the next weekend. There he qualified 11th with 7.445 @ 173.83 and went all the way to win the event with a 6.70 @ 211. Congrats to that!!  A couple weeks later it was up to Fort St. Johns for a CMDRA event where he qualified 7th with a 7.944 and finished 4th.

In July, it was over to Mission for the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals where Damian qualified 6th with 6.99 @ 207.85. In the third round of qualifying, the bike had a head gasket leak and caused a torch out of the rear head and barrel causing a spark show all over the track. Luckly for some hard work and searching for parts, the bike was back together Sunday morning for first round. However, the bike wasn't responding correctly to the new head so Damian shut the bike down at the start line.

Its off to Mission again August 9th and 10th, for the CMDRA and hopefully the repaired head will be back to try again. Damian currently sits 4th in points, behind Houniet, Boyer, and Lyle Newton who is in 1st for points. Damian qualified 3rd but lost first round.

Damian finished the CMDRA race series in 5th. Congrats to Mike Scott for winning the Top Fuel 2008 title!!!

In November, the team made the trip down to Las Vegas for the NHRA Lucas event finals. Damian qualified 7th with a 6.612, which put him up against Doug Vancil. However, Damian, lost first round eliminations against Doug but ran his best MPH of 216.45. With the bike loaded up they made their way over to Pamona, Cali for a couple exhibition passes for highschool kids. The first pass was easy as the track was fresh. Later in day, as more cars made their way down the track, it became better. Rob, crew chief, made a couple more adjustments to the bike, and Damian ran his fastest E.T of 6.378. Only .008sec of the fastest time the bike has ever gone. It was a great finish the season, and the team looks forward to 2009!!!

2009 was a Great season. During the winter the Top Fuel bike was completely torn down and gone through. The first race in Mission was very eventful. With qualifying done and sitting in 4th position for Sunday's eliminations, two pistions had to be changed. After first round eliminations, we had to change a piston after the trottle stuck and put a hole through it. With seconds to spare for second round, we won that round by reaction and it was off to the finals. In the finals against Andy Beauchemin out of Alberta, he smoked the tire at the 330 ft mark allowing Damian to pass him and take the win. It was a great way to start off the 2009 Season. Next race is in Edmonton June 27-28 for CMDRA and IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals the next weekend July 3,4, and 5.

These two bikes together will create...

We also took a brand new 2007 Honda CRF150 and through at it a BBR frame, Pro Curcuit Suspension, BBR exhaust, Tokyo Mods ignition and carbs, and RAD wheels. This turned into one wild motocross bike.
